We could not stay open if it wasn't for the help of our wonderful volunteers. Each day, our staff are supported by three teams of volunteers: the morning team, the evening team, and the night team. At least one member of staff will be present in the building at all times and will be there to direct and assist each team of volunteers. The role of volunteers can be very varied, helping staff with all aspects of running the house, which is why we welcome all kinds of people with their own unique skills!
The first step in becoming a volunteer is to attend one of our Volunteer Information Evenings, there, you can meet staff and volunteers, ask questions, and find out more about the kind of work we do at the Night Shelter. Information Evenings usually last around an hour and a half, and at the end you will have an opportunity to fill in a volunteer application form.
We hold Information Evenings throughout the year. The next dates are:
Thursday 26th September 7pm at the Night Shelter
Thursday 10th October 7pm at St John's Church in the Walks, Blackfriars Road, PE30 1NT
Thursday 17th October 7pm at St John's Church in the Walks, Blackfriars Road, PE30 1NT
All welcome, no need to book. We look forward to meeting you!
